Jim has been taking photos since the
early age of 16 when in high school he had more on his mind
than studying... lacking only a 1/2 credit to graduate, Jim
sought out classes which would give him what he needed to
graduate. The only class that would yield the 1/2 credit he
needed, was Mechanical Drawing/Photography.. so he took
it... he says he never did any mechanical drawing.. but he
liked the photography part and the teacher said he had an
eye for it. That led Jim to taking the class for the full 6
weeks.. After that, Jim worked on the school year book in
11th and 12th grade; he took all the pictures for the year
book that year and has been an avid photographer ever since.
That was in 1964.
His father gave him his first good
camera in 1988. It was then that Jim knew he wanted to be a
full time photographer. At the time he was working for
Caterpillar. He had a few opportunities to practice
photography part time during the 20 yrs he was there. After
leaving Cat in 1990 Jim finally turned his hobby into a
business.
